Out Of Area Registrations

Helios Medical Centre is Opening its Borders!

New arrangements introduced from the 5th January 2015 gave NHS England patients greater choice when choosing a GP Practice.

Patients are now able to approach any GP Practice, even if they live outside the Practice area, to see if they will be accepted on to the patient list.

Historically, GP Practices have always had the ability to accept patients who live outside their Practice area. However, in so doing, the GP’s at the Practice would normally accept responsibility to provide a home visiting service where it was clinically necessary to do so.

These new arrangements mean that GP practices now have the option to register patients who live outside the practice area but without the obligation to provide home visits.

Out of area registration (with or without home visits is voluntary for GP Practices meaning that some patients may still be refused by some Practices because they live out of area.

Here at Helios, however we are keen to welcome new Patients and are bringing these new arrangements to your attention as you may well have family or friends who might benefit from our approach to medicine and ease of access. Your experience as to what can be expected from Helios might help other patients to make an appropriate decision in this regard.

We would only register patients “without home visits” if it were clinically appropriate to do so and, where it would be inappropriate, we would certainly be prepared to explain why.

If you would prefer to talk to somebody face to face or by telephone, please do not hesitate to speak to Mr Richard Laver, our Practice Manager, either by telephone or when you are next in the Practice. We look forward to extending our services in conjunction with you.
